Parkmore Shopping Centre Enters a New Era of Growth
Parkmore Shopping Centre is celebrating a new era of growth and transformation, building on its proud 50-year history with record results, exciting refurbishments, and a fresh wave of new retailers.
Since opening on 27 November 1973, the centre has been more than just a shopping destination, it has been a place where community comes together. Marking its 50th birthday in late 2023, Parkmore celebrated alongside customers and retailers, recognising five decades at the heart of the community.
As part of Parkmore’s next chapter, Parkmore Shopping Centre will welcome Australia’s largest sporting retailer, Rebel Sport, which is set to open its doors from the fourth quarter of 2026.
In addition, Aldi is confirmed to open in late 2026, bringing new value and variety to the centre.
Aldi’s arrival is just the beginning, with more international and local retailers to be announced soon, ensuring the centre continues to grow with its community.
In May this year, Kmart, one of the centre’s longest standing retailers, unveiled a major refurbishment, introducing a modern layout, centralised checkouts, select-and-collect kiosks and direct to boot services. Red Balloon Café, also a foundation retailer, was refreshed at the same time, reaffirming its place as a much-loved community meeting spot.
The centre has recorded its strongest year yet, with $320 million in sales and more than 7.5 million customer visits. Parkmore now ranks second in Melbourne and in the top 10 nationally in the respected ‘Little Guns’ category for Australia’s best performing mid-sized shopping centres.
The past year has also seen a pipeline of new retailers join the centre, including Seoul Bibimgo, Skin Kandy, Palmero Perfume, Bodero, Bee Keen Café, General Games and Precise Radiology with Elite Supplements and Starkids opening soon.
Longstanding retailers have also invested, with refurbishments completed by Dumpling Chef, NAB, Just Threading, Amplifon, Sportsco, Fish Pier and Tattslotto.
Centre Manager, Jo Bush said the momentum reflects both the centre’s heritage and its direction.
“Parkmore has always been a strong community destination, and it’s exciting to see heritage paired with record results and significant new investment.
“The refurbishments highlight our long-standing retailer partnerships, while our new openings bring fresh variety that customers are responding to, such as sporting brand, Rebel Sport, and larger major supermarket store, Aldi.
“The centre’s growth story is just the beginning, and we’re looking forward to sharing more in the months ahead.”
