Earth Hour 2017

We’re celebrating 10 years of Earth Hour as a global phenomenon.

Earth Hour is a global World Wildlife Fund climate change initiative that invites you to turn out your lights for one hour to show your support for action on climate change.

Individuals, businesses, governments and communities are all encouraged to get involved and switch off all non-essential lighting and appliances at 8:30pm on Saturday 25th March 2017.

Originally an Aussie idea, Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, with 2.2 million people and 2,100 businesses switching their lights out to draw attention to global warming.

Now, Earth Hour has become an international movement celebrated in over 172 countries worldwide, and is the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment.

In Australia, Earth Hour is something that really brings communities together, with 1 in every 4 Aussies taking part. In 2016, millions of Australians took part in Earth Hour to show their support for a low pollution, clean energy future, one in which we can continue to enjoy the best of nature and our great Aussie outdoor lifestyle.

Parkmore Shopping Centre supports Earth Hour and will be turning off all non-essential lighting and appliances during Earth Hour.

At 8:30pm on Saturday 25th March, switch off to support progress for the next generation, and #JoinTheFuture.
