Do I need to be vaccinated to visit a shopping centre?

From Friday 29th October at 6pm eased restrictions will allow:
  • Retail to re-open with density limits (1 person per 4sqm indoors) to both vaccinated and un-vaccinated patrons.
  • Personal services such as hairdressing, barbers, beauty therapy and personal care to open under the 4sqm rule, open for fully vaccinated people
  • Gyms and indoor sport venues to open fully vaccinated under the 4sqm rule.
  • Outdoors under 2sqm rule capped at 500 for both vaccinated and unvaccinated patrons. 
  • Seated & Non-Seated Indoor entertainment venues including cinemas, theatres, music halls, museums and galleries to reopen to fully vaccinated under the 4sqm rule subject to caps. 
  • Restaurants and cafes can open for seated service only with small venues able to host up to 25 fully vaccinated patrons (before the 4sqm rule applies). All other venues are able to open under the 4 sqm rule to fully vaccinated patrons. 
  • Food courts will open under the 4sqm rule, with masks able to be removed to consumer food & drink.

Yes, the foodcourt will open under a 4sqm density limit. You may remove your mask in the foodcourt to consume food or drink. 
What if I am not fully vaccinated?

Visitors aged 16 and over who are not fully vaccinated:
  • can continue to access all retail stores (both essential and non-essential) at the centre however, they cannot access personal care services, gyms, indoor entertainment venues or restaurants and cafes.
  • Visitors under the age of 16 who are not fully vaccinated must be with a fully vaccinated member of their household in all venues which require its patrons to be vaccinated.
How do I show proof of vaccination?

As a requirement of entering stores in which vaccination is a requirement,  you must show staff proof of full vaccination status.  Retailers are required to ask for vaccination status upon entry into their stores and have the right to refuse entry to unvaccinated customers attempting to enter a restricted premises.
 
Only the following three forms of evidence of vaccination (or medical exemption) are accepted: 
  • A COVID-19 digital certificate displayed through the Medicare App, Service VIC App or equivalent smartphone wallet 
  • Printed version of the COVID-19 digital certificate or immunisation history statement 
  • Successful completion of a Service VIC QR check-in that includes vaccination confirmation. 
What stores or services are allowed to re-open in shopping centres?

As directed by the DHHS & VIC Government:
  • From 29th October at 6pm when VIC hits the 80% double-dose vaccinated target (aged 16 and over):
  • All retail can re-open with density limits (1 person per 4sqm indoors) to both vaccinated and un-vaccinated patrons.
  • Personal services such as hairdressing, barbers, beauty therapy and personal care can open under the 4sqm rule to vaccinated patrons
  • Gyms and indoor sport venues can open under the 4sqm rule, to vaccinated patrons
  • Seated & Non-Seated Indoor entertainment venues including cinemas, theatres, music halls, museums and galleries can re-open under the 4sqm rule subject to caps.

You are able to access all of our retailers throughout the shopping centre, including personal services, restaurants and gyms.
There are density limits and you must check in on entry to a retailer and provide proof of vaccination when prompted, however you are not restricted in any way. 
Do you need to wear a face mask or face covering?

Any visitor, shopper or staff over the age of 12 must wear a fitted face covering while inside the centre (unless exempted).

Masks may be removed to eat or drink.
